ABOUT MELISSA
Melissa Whitehead is an experienced attorney whose practice is focused on partnering with employers to provide sound representation in litigation, as well as providing advice and counsel, conducting impartial workplace investigations, and facilitating substantive training to employees and HR professionals. She defends employers facing lawsuits involving a wide variety of workplace matters, including wrongful termination, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour, and FEHA/EEOC claims.
Melissa draws on her years of experience defending employers in litigation to provide practical guidance on the many issues employers regularly face, including making appropriate personnel decisions, navigating leaves of absence and accommodation requests, and wage and hour challenges. Melissa enjoys partnering with clients on wage-hour compliance and keeping employers up to date on legal developments.
An experienced investigator, Melissa frequently conducts impartial workplace investigations involving complex issues, including claims of sexual harassment, hostile work environment, racial discrimination, and retaliation.
Among Melissa’s other passions, she relishes training employers of all industries on topics such as EEO compliance, effectively managing accommodations, and legal updates. Her humor and real-life case studies bring these subjects to life and keep participants engaged.
COMMITTED TO COMMUNITY
Melissa is an avid basketball fan, whether cheering for her kids or the Sacramento Kings. She loves traveling with her husband and two kids on anything from day trips to international adventures. Melissa is also actively involved as an officer of the Placer County Bar Association’s Women Lawyers Section.
