ROLE OVERVIEW
The Case Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting litigation attorneys and case teams through efficient, accurate, and timely case management across a variety of litigation and mediation-related tasks. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, is highly organized, and brings a high level of professionalism and attention to detail to all tasks.
A TYPICAL DAY AS A CASE ASSISTANT
You’ll support litigation teams across a variety of tasks including:
- Declaration Campaigns: Coordinating interviews, managing project timelines and budgets, maintaining records, and preparing final declarations.
- Litigation Support: Setting up and closing cases, tracking court dockets, drafting and filing legal documents, and preparing attorneys for hearings.
- Mediation Support: Scheduling mediators, confirming deadlines, handling client communications, and managing documentation such as MOUs and settlement agreements.
- Attorney & Department Support: Ensuring attorney compliance with court requirements, managing platform accounts (PACER, ECF, JAMS), and supporting billing procedures.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive professional with a background in legal support or litigation. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills, with a strong ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism and accuracy. A solid understanding of court rules, legal terminology, and experience with electronic filing systems is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, along with familiarity with legal technology tools and platforms, is also required. We're looking for someone who can seamlessly support our legal team and contribute to the efficiency and success of our practice.
EDUCATION/TRAINING
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Prior administrative experience in a professional services or legal environment preferred.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- High level of professionalism and discretion in communications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and comfort with legal or business software tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and anticipate needs.
